19th Sunday of Ordinary Time                                                  13th August 2006

Dear Friends

Today Jesus speaks to us with the words: "I am the Bread of Life": and we respond by saying: "Taste and see that the Lord is good". Our bodies need natural nourishment: our spirits are sustained by the Eucharist. That is why the preparation of children for First Communion is an essential aspect of parish life. The programme for 2006/07 will begin in mid September with An Information evening for parents on Wednesday 13th September and A Mass of Enrolment for the children on Sunday 17th September at 11.00 a.m. Application forms are now available from Fr. James. Tuesday next, 15th August, is the solemn Holy Day of The Assumption of Our Blessed Lady. It ranks as a Liturgical Feast of the highest category which all should celebrate by coming to Mass. Masses on that day are at 10.00 a.m. and 8.00 p.m.

God Bless you always,
Fr. James

After last years success the Brentwood Catholic Children's Society are again holding 'Run for a Child'. This is to take place on Saturday 23rd September at 10am in Hastingwood near Harlow, Essex. We are looking for one runner to represent our parish in running this 5 mile course. We ask our parishioners to support our representative by donating just £1. If every parishioner across the diocese donated £1, thousands could be raised to help the Brentwood Catholic Children's Society help children in need in our diocese. Please see poster in Church porch for details of how to enter.
