The Ecumenical Committee is responsible for promoting ecumenism within our parish community and for liaising and working with the other church members of Churches Together in Epping & District (CTED)
The executive of CTED includes Father James, Deacon Duncan, Davnet Barker and Mary Morgan. Three meeting are held each year to discuss various aspects of services and activities to seek a greater understanding between our Churches. Further meetings are held to plan joint activities and services.Ecumenical Services include One World Week, Christian Unity, The Peace Service, Woman’s World day of Prayer, Songs of Praise on the Green and the Walk of Witness. Epping Church Choirs Association (ECCA) includes members of our congregation and gives strong ecumenical witness and support to our work together.
Our share of the envelopes collection for Christian Aid are distributed by a team of helpers, without whom this very special joint venture would not be able to collect in excess of £5,000 each year.
We play host to the students, from "The Student Cross", the night before they undertake their pilgrimage walk to Walsingham each year.
The Christmas Day luncheon is held in our hall and brings together around seventy people who would other wise be alone. Work-Space held during a lunch break each week at St John’s Church offers the opportunity for Christians working in Epping to come together and share a meal.
Our most rewarding success of the year has been "The Box" offering a High Street meeting place and much more for over a hundred young people of the town each week.
The children’s mission held each October during the half term, attracts over eighty children each day. A spin off from this has been "Splash" meeting weekly for children under eleven.
The help and generous support from our Clergy and community is greatly appreciated. If you would like to help in any way, please contact Mary Morgan (5747129).
